Born in Naples in 1979. Saviano is a journalist and writer graduated in Philosophy at University of Naples "Federico II". He collaborates with various magazines and with daily newspapers and uses a combination of literary and journalistic style to report on reality. Saviano is the author of the hugely successful non-fiction novel Gomorra, which strongly denounces the activities of the Camorra, the Neapolitan criminal organisation. After publishing Gomorra Saviano became the object of threats and menaces and has been living under police escort since the October 2006.
