WORLD SOCIAL SUMMIT 2008 'WSS: Bauman, Vigna, Rutelli and Cossiga during the last day of conferences'
Rome, 25 September 2008 - The World Social Summit 2008 (WSS) organized by Fondazione Roma in collaboration with Censis, under the Sponsorship of the President of the Republic and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will end tomorrow at Villa Miani. The final day of conferences will open at 9:00 a.m. with the lectio magistralis entitled "Liquid fear" of the Polish sociologist Zygmunt Bauman. The work session dedicated to the "courage to react before fears" will open at 10:00 a.m. chaired by Roberto Napoletano (Director of Il Messaggero). The following will attend the session: the Rwandese psycho-therapist Esther Mujawayo, who will hold a speech on the ability to survive fear, the President of the Court of Cassation Piero Luigi Vigna, the Canadian philosopher Daniel Bell, who will hold a speech on the relation between identities and anxiety and the Vice president of the African Commission on Human and People rights Angela Melo, who will hold a speech on the promotion of human rights. During the session, the speech of Francesco Rutelli against the traffic of human beings is also awaited for. Senator Francesco Cossiga will be attending. The morning of conferences continues at 12:00 p.m. with the lectio magistralis of the winner of the Nobel Prize for Economy Gary Becker on the relation between fear and education. The three days of conferences will end at 1:00 p.m. with the speeches of the President of Fondazione Roma Emmanuele Emanuele and the President of Censis Giuseppe De Rita.
