WORLD SOCIAL SUMMIT 2008 'WSS: Marzano, uncertainty generates fear'
"The concept of uncertainty is that of economy in my opinion: an economic agent is not able to assign a certain probability degree to an event" says CNEL President, Prof. Antonio Marzano, during the World Social Summit held in Rome until September 26th. "Yet economy sometimes does not see the main things. How can this phenomenon affect people?" The professor identifies the factors leading to uncertainty. "Family is going through a crisis, youngsters change their behaviour. School, which drastically changed in 1968, does not educate. In addition, there is labour, with its harsh conflicts and issues. Uncertainty generates fear, in view of governments' politics, the denial to agreements, cities that lack solidarity and market instability due to globalization". In conclusion, he proposes solutions: "Saving, reciprocal respect, welfare, hope and observance of the ten commandments may defend us from uncertainty and fear".
