WORLD SOCIAL SUMMIT 2008 'WSS: Alemanno, strength and universal values to protect individuality'
"We are facing an epochal crisis, but we can start all over again by comparing the western world and the third world", said the Mayor of Rome Gianni Alemanno at the World Social Summit held in Rome until September 26th. Alemanno has thus explained the peculiarities of the city model expressed by the capital in symbolizing a meeting place between different souls and civilizations. Alemanno indeed depicted Rome as an "area free of pollution, free among cultures" and promoted the meditation on the adoption of universal values aimed at protecting the individuality of the human kind. Alemanno then reminded that "today's snares - mainly due to a space-temporal expansion of local and particular phenomena - act on people's psyche, thus making them more vulnerable, more than on the perception of international sovereignty" - The Mayor of Rome expressed this way his agreement with the words of the Ministry of Welfare, Maurizio Sacconi and of the President of Fondazione Roma, Emmanuele, in reforming international institutions, making them more functional and modern.
